  • T0NIGHT'S play by James Brabazon, is about refugees. Set in a derelict church, once an army ammunition dump somewhere in the British Zone of Western Germany in 1945 it tells the story not of the whole refugee problem, but of one ordibary family - caught in circumstances not of their own making, but of the making of history.

Originally commissioned by the Dominicans of Hawksyard Priory as a contribution towards World Refugee Year, People of Nowhere was first produced out of doors at Hawksyard by John Crockett, and later moved into St. Thomas's Church, Regent Street. Tonight's production, again by John Crockett, was recorded in its entirety in All Saints' Church, Petersham, Surrey - a disused church chosen on account of its Byzantine interior, rich in visual detail, that enhances and contrasts with the lives and circumstances of the refugees in the play.

Heading an excellent cast are Megs Jenkins, who has given many fine performances in films and television, and Barry Foster, the young actor who was recently making London audiences take notice of him in Fairy Tales of New York at the Comedy Theatre .
