Frank would make his last stage appearance, at the age of 82, in a production of The Cherry Orchard (2008) at Chichester Festival Theatre. In the Chichester production he played the old retainer Firs and by the wonders of happenstance Lopakin was played by Michael Sibberry who played Yasha in this 1983 production.
Bernadette Shortt who also appears in this production took over from Morag Hood as Constanze in Amadeus (1981) in which Frank played Antonio Salieri.
